It's been awhile since I last went to Pangkor. 1 and a half years since to be precise. Made a comeback after the recent flood that screwed my life. It was the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and just pamper myself over the long weekend. It was more like a last minute thing, turned down the first invitation coz' I thought I would be busy but it turned out that I was yearning for a holiday less than few days before departure. This time, I travelled with a group of friends from church, most of them unknown to me before the trip. It was indeed another great opportunity to get to know each other better and thinks worked out great.
Left on a perfect Saturday morning via bus for the coastal town of Lumut.

As usual, passed by the green paddy fields and the numerous village houses by the highway.
Spent most of my time sleeping in the bus though. By the time I woke up, we were already in Lumut that means it's lunch time. Sad to say, after the long journey and the absence of breakfast, I wasn't very hungry upon reaching the eatery. The place was swarming with flies and more flies. It was almost like a fly colony lived there. Drinks were diluted if not flavoured with too much sugar or coloured by weird substances. The only thing edible was Ramly burger from the roadside stall. I would strongly advice all potential holidaymakers to have their lunch on the island itself.

The quaint fishing village on stilts
This time, I was in Pangkor merely to relax and unwind; minus all the exploring.

Jinern Aaron and Me; ex belian-ers coincidentally.

Cool Clouds
Reached the island around 4 after a 30-minute ferry ride. The usual pink taxis then whisked all 12 of us to our hotel which happens to be Coral Bay again. Our organiser booked us a penthouse.. but it was on the ground floor. weird huh? Turned out the hotel actually called their duplex a penthouse. But heck, the "penthouse" was extremely large and spacious equipped with all the basic necessities.

Upon checking in we got ourselves changed and headed straight to the beach. The beach that played host to us was Pasir Bogak. I expected a huge crowd on the beach as it was a weekend but it turned out rather peaceful. We did the usual beachy stuff like playing with sand, burying peeps and soaking ourselves in the sea.

Digging for water..

Girls can get creative at times.. =P

Sunset on the Straits of Malacca

Abalone
While strolling on the beach and hopping from one rock to another we found a bunch of onlookers playing with some strange looking creature which turned out to be abalone. That was one interesting discovery as I never knew where its habitat was.

We slept early, knowing it was gona be a long day the following day. So everyone woke up early and headed to town for breakfast. There we came across some seriously weird guy selling a very popular local street snack, apom balik. Upon seeing all 12 of us, he directed us to order only 1 each. There wasn't any other customer apart from us if you're wondering. Now you know why the villages in Malaysia take so long to develop. They simply don't want money.

Nevertheless, his apam balik was not bad. haha

Scouted around somore, just looking around for some nice place to have our branch and little did I realise it was a perfect place for photography. The scenario and the setting was just perfect.

Aaron trying to be more like me. haha. just kiding.

3 amigos... and a syiok sendiri taxi driver who was looking at the camera..
After having our branch at an old coffee shop serving simple chinese cuisine at a bargain, we went back to our hotel and I went to the beach to snap more pictures. Can't leave Pangkor without nice shots of its beaches. I was really impressed by how scenic this island can be at noon. Of course the clarity of the water is no match to those islands in the east coast. Aaron was so fascinated coz' it was his first time in many many years. haha

turquoise sea

Clear blue skies and blue sea. Thank God for the perfect weather man.

Eagle soaring in the sky

Life's simply a BEACH

My new found dog in the water
Having an even number of people, we played water polo. damn it was fun and tiring. Still, never had so much fun in a pool before.

An almost successful panoramic shot of Pasir Bogak Beach,
After burning calories in the polo game for almost 3 hours, it was time to refuel with some beach rojak. wow. The rojak actually had slices of coconut and other local exotic ingredients sprinkled with finely crushed nuts. Coupled with a scorching hot evening and a pristine beach; simply orgasmic.

Pangkor Rojak by the beach

The wave crashing itself onto the shore

Little fish

walking further down South, we found ourselves a peaceful bay with no one but us

Frolicking in the sea

The RM10 kite which found itself stuck to a tree minutes later. hehe

bigfoot
We initially planned alot of activities including island hopping but it was too hot so we decided to wait till sunset. Someone managed to negotiate and got us 5 canoes and there we went kayaking towards the sun. I don't think there's any other better activity I can think off apart from kayaking. First-timer Aaron shared the same canoe as me but we didn't capsize. haha.

sunset and the silhouette of a yacht

waterproof cameras always have their uses..

Beach Bums

My most favourite shot of the entire trip. Pretty ain't it

I just love sunsets.

A hornbill returning to its nest

With such a perfect setting, there's not better thing to do than ride a banana boat.

Eager Beavers

Drenched ourselves till it got really dark and headed back to our hotel. Aaron lost his specs and fortunately he found it back, buried beneath the sand. We had a nice dinner to end the adventurous accompanied by a game of Mafia I think. I played until I fell asleep. haha. I was dead tired man. still, it was fun man.

Jinern with his other half...

Celebrated Wern Ming's and Joyce's belated birthday too
Next day, we had to check out early as we bought an early bus ticket home. Wished we had more time on the island though. Wanted to go cycling and snorkelling again but oh well, at least I have a reason to return.

So it's goodbye to paradise..
