Every journey has to come to an end. Including a post. I finally found time to conclude my Penang "working cum holiday" experience. (more like holiday). A picture paints a thousand words so it will definitely be filled with it.
My journey somewhat began at 6-1-12. Yeap, that's my condominium's unit number in Batu Feringghi. Tucked on a small hill in the prime district of Batu Feringghi, it was a dream home of anyone my age.

The cheapskate owner who rented us his unit can't even afford a duplicate.

One of the few things which i dearly missed is definitely the free-formed pool. Nice and warm...
Not to forget the other facilities like the gym and the ping pong table as well as the viewing deck offering breathtaking views of the Straits of Malacca. haha.
Despite the fact that there's no one to purchase 'nutritional ingredients' for me, I still managed to ocasionally cook a wholesome and ellaborate meal for myself and my housies. On other days, Mi Sedap or Campbell mushroom with toast will do. haha.

My very own Minestrone Soup made using leftovers from the tortilla fillings

Chef at Work

On certain nights especially during birthdays, we would splash as lavish restaurants such as Feringghi Garden.
Talking about birthdays, here's a story of 2 candles...

First obtained from 'I've forgotten where', this pair of candle was initially used for Nena's bday 'cake'.

Well... it was the best cake we could find. For unknown reasons, the one and only bakery in Batu Feringghi closed down not long before we arrived which made it difficult to obtain candles or purchase any cake.

Anyway, not long later, it was reused for June's. No cake again, resorted to jelly.

And finally, Atikah... Peanut Butter and a cracker. Voila.
'It's the thought that counts' lol
As mentioned earlier, there's a viewing deck on my condo. However, we seem to be the only one utilising it.

20th floor

Perched on the highest floor of our apartment which is the 20th floor, it offers a panoramic view of batu Feringghi and on a clear day, Langkawi.

During the month of Chinese New Year, it's the best place to view fireworks on 'display' by the local villagers. (It seems like the local MP have been distributing them for free)

Or on a quiet night, simply gaze at the beauty of the moon

Random shot: A colourful car in which we pass by almost everyday

Flame dancers strutting their stuff. I love the nights we spent on the beach whether its spinning the tunes on the ipod or throwing sand at each other, sleeping or sipping a drink it was peaceful and contenting...

And the evenings spent at the beach... (although we only did so in the first month)
I just love Atika's classic facial expression

In general, Penang's beaches are quite deserted except for Batu Feringghi and obviously not as pristine and idyllic as Perhentian or Langkawi but it is pleasing and has the capability of releasing stress.

Starfish found by the shore

Lazy river in Teluk Bahang

Outside the apartment, I would definitely miss the Penang National Park

It's like a forest within a city that's so close to home, a mere 5 minutes bus ride.

Pantai Kerachut, known for its meromictic lake and seasonal turtle sightings

Just me
The most memorable beach has to be Monkey Beach, with so many incidents taking place there.

Atika in bikini without mom's knowledge. lol

Group pic at Monkey Beach

Paradise

Anemone

Just me and Duprey

Yet another memorable Penang experience is the scaling of the lighthouse in Muka Head. A strenuous climb up Muka Head which took almost 30minutes was rewarded with a stunning view

Not to forget the extraordinary photography outing to the Tropical Spice Garden

And the 'jalan-jalan' to Botanical Gardens which ended up in a double helping nut coated ice cream indulgence.

2 scoops, the price of once scoop coated with kacang, all for just demanding more. lol

Botanical Gardens. More like Forest park actually.
As some housies didn't return for CNY including me, we had our vey own 'reunion dinner' with yee sang and only yee sang. lol.

We bought extra ingredients affraid that it couldn't feed all 8 of us. However we forgotten about the ware to 'lou sang'. We eventually cling wrapped the table and lalala the yee sang.

Many friends were also made during my tenureship with Golden Sands such as these two wonderful Japanese girls, Yuki and Yukie.

And many other Indonesians and Malaysians as well as Swedish

And Atika was 'privileged' to perform a chinese opera

Atika in Pink

Atika on Chair
'Revenge'

View from my living room

Sunset viewed from the 20th floor

Sunset from the beach

Still, the best sunset happens to happen on the last evening in Penang

Never before I've seen such explosion of colours in the sky

Slowly as the sun sets in the horizon, the sky turns into a glowing amber shade before it surrenders the day to the moon
Penang was certainly a great adventure and experience. Invaluable time were spent with housies which makes the experience even better. The 'away from home' experience with 7 friends is something that many have not experienced and one which might not be experienced anymore. Nevertheless, every moment of it will be remembered through lasting memories

Just for laughters...
