During the recent term break, a few of us from Group 1 and 2 of DH27 went to Pangkor for a holiday. It was kinda last minute considering we pulled everything together in only 3 days. As an overview, Pangkor is a cluster of Islands situated of the coast of Perak. It was considered a popular tourist destination in the 90's until the development and emergence of other Islands such as Langkawi and Redang. Overall it was an exciting and enjoyable trip as everyone was really sporting and lame. I Finally got the pics and as usual, I will share them on my blog. There are so many pictures that I have to split it into 3 different posts. haha. Our journey started from the Puduraya bus station and as usual, we camwhored in the bus la... lol, The price of the bus ticket to Lumut is about 38RM inclusive of a return ticket.

sunnies model wannabes...

Holidays are intended to escape the busy and hectic urban lifestyle as well as the gridlock that strangles each and everyone of us. Unfortunately, we were stuck in a jam as soon as we left the bus station... but the view of KL at dusk was a sight to behold.
about an hour after leaving Kuala Lumpur, the drive stopped us at a highway restaurant which was really filthy with flies flying around and a dead bees in between the potato chips. lol. What really caught our attention was a stall named look look. *supposed to be lok lok* and a jukebox which charges only 50 cents! unfortunately.... it's not even connected to an electricity source. lol
The green green grass of home....
The scenery on the way to Lumut was breathtaking as well... the paddy fields were so vast, it stretched as far as the eye could see. White storks were also spotted feeding on fishes at the nearby rivers.
Soon enough, we entered the town of Sitiawan after crossing a river which I don't know the name.. At Sitiawan, many prewar shophouses line the streets, most of them with intricate designs and architecture but in an impaired or neglected state.

The journey to Lumut took approximately 4 hours, due to the lack of proper infrastructure and the absent of a modern highway.

To get to Pangkor Island from Lumut, one have to take a boat which cost rm7 inclusive of return transfer as well. The Lumut jetty has gone through extensive renovations and is very well equipped compared to a couple of years ago. The boat ride to Pangkor Island was rather interesting. It was a bright and sunny day with strong wind capable of blowing me off the boat. lol. And as usual, we camwhored la...
This is a pic to prove how strong the wind was... so strong that it brought Medusa to life... haha

We were really lucky as the weather and the conditions of the sea was perfect. The sea was shimmering with shades of blue and green, contrary to what critics reviewed earlier.

Pangkor's main economy is derived around fishing, followed by tourism which has been picking slowly up ever since the December 2004 tsunami crippled the tourism industry. Because fishing played an important role, it is not surprising to fine many wooden houses built on stilts.
Our government is one of the best... *yeah rite* They are so RICH that they actually greet visitors to Pangkor with a canvas banner instead of a proper billboard.
Getting around Pangkor Island is easy, many of this pink coloured van or taxi are available almost anywhere. And the good thing about it is the prices are fixed on sign at the jetty... so you won't get con!
Pasir Bogak beach overlooking the award-winning Pangkor Laut Island
We checked in at our 3 or 4 star hotel apartment tucked somewhat at the end of Pasir Bogal beach. We got a 2 bedroom apartment which cost RM480 for 2 nights. that means rm48 for each of us coz' there were 10 of us. haha. The hotel in general is value-for-money, with a surprisingly really clean swimming pool and a large coffee house.
The Pasir Bogak beach is also not bad. The beach was miraculously empty, most probably because it wasn't a school holiday. This may sound impossible but it's true that the beach still boast clear waters with visibility up to several metres.

Pasir Bogak beach is and ideal spot to finish that untouched novel of yours which has been collecting dust at the end of your shelves or to simply relax and unwind under the shady trees which line the 2 kilometres beach.
We headed back to town for lunch as there was NO eateries nearby our hotel opened for lunch. swt...

After lunch, we indulged in one of Malaysians' many favourite pastime, SHOPPING!
And me, being a banana, tried to buy bananas and I mixed up Mandarin and Cantonese while communicating with the fruit seller. lol. Luckily Michelle came to the rescue.

Next, we headed to the beach!!! And obviously camwhored at some rocks which provided lovely frontpage shots. lol

Being a nature enthusiast, I was much excited when we spotted a sea cucumber and a jelly fish! well, the jelly fish kinda suicide. lol.

And we camwhored with some oysters!
And on the rocks...
Ryan and Nana were busy collecting seaweeds for duno what... until Ryan made some *bikini* out of it for Michelle. LOL. She looks freaky though, like the Lady in the Water. We also burried Jay in the sand. haha

With our creative minds, we camwhored in a different way... haha. 4 stugeous trying to be models...

For dinner, there were quite some restaurants to choose from unlike lunch. Thanks to Ryan, we actually savoured Mantis Prawn which is almost considered rare back in KL.

My gothic look. together with camwhore partner June, Hair stylist Ryan and make-up artist Michelle. lol
For fun, I had Michelle to put some eyeliner on me to produce a "gothic" look. And Ryan was nice enough to style my hair, the gothic style, for me. haha

Look at Reagan in the 1st pic! lol
After dinner we headed to the beach for some "meeting" man I miss the times where Reagan wil call for a meeting. haha.

Back in our hotel, we had our own version of Soda, Maisons and etc etc. LOL. We bought Heineken each at less than half the price of what is being charged at Laundry bar! Well, that's about Day 1, Day 2 we went snorkelling and island hopping which I will post soon...
