Gourmet Galore

Just some pictures and brief description of our recent makan-makan experience.

Bubba Gump, The Curve

Themed after the movie Forrest Gump. It mainly specializes in shrimp. What I found rather interesting was the servers would ask some questions regarding the movie and if you answer them correctly, you'll get a free dessert. Unfortunately, we've gotten all of it wrong.

Another interesting concept is that whenever you want the server to attend to you, simply flip the signboard on the table to 'Stop Forrest Stop'. Apparently Forrest is always on the run so stop basically tells him, (the server) to stop.

As mentioned earlier, the specialty of this American chain restaurant is none other than its shrimp. Nothing much to shout out though. I found it a little bland. Can't remember the flavour we chose but it has something to do with garlic.

However, the dessert turned out really good but I've totally forgotten what are the names of the desserts again. lol

June's house, Ara Damansara

This is actually part of our weekly wine tasting gathering where we pair various snacks together with a certain wine.

Jay looking all excited

Alcoholic wannabe

The wine we had that night was a Chilean full bodied wine

We paired it with some bruschettas

And some fried finger food. It's actually not that appropriate but heck, we can't be cooking ourselves a steak each.

Somehow, the dessert seems to be the best part of the tasting session.
Vanilla ice cream with caramelized apples and caramelized sugar as the garnish.

Naomi's House, SS1

Yet another wine tasting session at our best host's house.
The food seems to be more extensive than the wine despite the fact that it's a wine tasting session. I guess eating comes first.

This time, wine chosen was a light bodied Californian with the grape variety of Merlot.

This time, the wine paired well with all of our food as it consist mainly of canapés instead of the heavy snacks.

Garlic toast with butter

some forgotten pizza

chicken pie

Toffees

Another pairing that night was dark chocolate with brandy. One successful wine gathering

Café Café, Jalan Maharajalela

Tucked behind massive billboards at the busy junction of Jalan Maharajalela lies one of KL's best kept secret. Reputed to be one of the closest to fine dining one can find in Malaysia.

The atmosphere at the restaurant is simply remarkable. Dimmed lighting and candle-lit dining halls forced me to hide my camera as it attracted too much unwanted attention.

We went there only for dessert as we weren't prepared for such a lavish meal.

Lemon Cake.

Cheesecake with fruits if I'm not mistaken
They weren't the house specialty but they're something almost to die for.

Great concept with great desserts.

Le Bouchon, Changkat Bukit Bintang

Changkat Bukit Bintang is one of Kuala Lumpur's most vibrant gastronomic street with an exciting array of restaurants to choose from. We went to Le Bouchon for a sort of dessert wine tasting session.

All formal

Again, because it's close to a fine dining concept, we had to take pictures discreetly.

Wine chosen was an Argentinian late harvest
It was a very sweet wine, suitable with our sumptuous dessert

A Le Bouchon specialty, some chocolate thingy with brandy-soaked pear

June's and Joanne's apple thingy with flaming brandy
Somehow, my choice of desserts never fail to meet my expectations.

Summer Steamboat, Sunway

A very outdated post but still worth some pictures

I'm gonna be late for work! lol
